Instant Smiles

Immediate Dentures

For patients who need their teeth extracted, immediate dentures provide an instant solution to avoid going without teeth during the healing process. These dentures are prepared in advance and fitted on the same day as your extractions, ensuring you leave your dental clinic with a complete smile. Immediate dentures help maintain facial appearance and function while giving your gums time to heal.

An immediate denture requires careful planning. Before extraction, we take impressions to match the shade, size, and shape of your teeth, along with a bite registration to ensure proper fit. Your denture will be ready for you to wear immediately after extraction.

At LuxeSmile Dental Denture Boutique, we prioritise your comfort and convenience, ensuring that your immediate dentures are designed to fit securely and look natural. Once the healing process is complete, adjustments or a more permanent solution can be made to ensure the best long-term results. This service is ideal for those who value continuity and confidence during their dental journey.

The main difference is the process, not the materials. Immediate dentures are made in advance and placed right after tooth extraction, so you don’t have to go without teeth during the healing period.

The biggest benefit is that you won’t have to go without teeth, and the denture acts like a bandage, helping to control bleeding and swelling. However, since the denture is made before your extraction, the fit is estimated, meaning adjustments and relining will be needed as your mouth heals.

First, we take impressions and a bite registration to determine the right fit and alignment. The denture is then created before your extraction appointment, so it’s ready to wear immediately after your teeth are removed.

Immediate dentures are very common because they allow patients to maintain their smile and function while their gums heal.

Wear your dentures continuously for the first 48 hours to help control bleeding and promote healing. Follow-up adjustments will be necessary, and a reline may be needed after full healing. Stick to soft, cold foods initially, avoid smoking and alcohol, and rinse your mouth with warm salt water several times a day.

Since the bone and gums change shape after extractions, immediate dentures usually need relining. With proper care and adjustments, they can last for many years. Even without extractions, dentures typically require a reline every few years to maintain a proper fit.

Clean them after every meal or at least before bed using a soft-bristle toothbrush and dishwashing liquid. Avoid toothpaste, as it’s too abrasive. Always clean them over a sink filled with water or a towel to prevent damage if dropped. Remove your dentures at night to give your gums a rest.

It varies from person to person, but most people take about two weeks to adjust. Eating and speaking will feel different at first, but with consistent wear, you’ll adapt. The key is to wear them regularly and allow time for your mouth to adjust.
